Course #2

JCL

JCL stands for Job Control Language. It is a Scripting language used to communicate with the MVS operating system. We use JCL to run jobs on MVS operating systems. A COBOL program written on the mainframe is made to run through JCL. JCL provides all the resources and information such as the file names, a location of the file, associated file name, compiled module location, statements, parameters and much more.

DB2

DB2 is a database product from IBM. It is a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). DB2 is designed to store, analyze and retrieve the data efficiently. DB2 product is extended with the support of Object-Oriented features and non-relational structures with XML. It is a group of data treated collectively as a unit. A database is a large structured set of persistent data, and its purpose is to store, retrieve and manipulate related information.

CICS

BM CICS (Customer Information Control System) is a family of mixed-language application servers that provide online transaction management and connectivity for applications on IBM mainframe systems under z/OS and z/VSE. CICS family products are designed as middleware and support rapid, high-volume online transaction processing. A CICS transaction is a unit of processing initiated by a single request that may affect one or more objects.

VSAM

The term Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM) applies to both a data set type and the access method used to manage various user data types. As an access method, VSAM provides much more complex functions than other disk access methods. VSAM keeps disk records in a unique format that is not understandable by other access methods. VSAM is used primarily for applications. It is not used for source programs, JCL, or executable modules.

1. Who are we ?

We are MainframeZskills Pvt Ltd based out of Pune in India. We help the young Indian engineers to learn Coding on one of the most powerful platforms called MAINFRAME. The candidates need to pass our initial preliminary tests in order to get selected for the program. The course timings is worked out in consultation with the participants. We provide 24 x 7 access to the Mainframe on 24 x 7 basis.
